The Shropshire Union Canal Society has for over 50 years worked to maintain, improve and restore the SU Canal network which stretches in the east from the Midlands to the Mersey and in the west into north and mid Wales via the Llangollen and Montgomery Canals. The Society is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers. Our current restoration work is opening up the dry section of the Montgomery Canal in Shropshire just south of Oswestry, providing an amenity for all and eventually linking the Welsh section with the national network. The current project will open up a further 11/4 miles to navigation in 2023. To help this work we are seeking volunteers to fill a number of roles. These include general volunteers to assist with site work and two trustee posts of treasurer and publicity/social media. These roles are all voluntary and non-remunerated.
